One day while chasing a piglet through the woods, you stumble and strike your head. Waking, you discover a mysterious egg that you take home and keep safe. When the egg hatches, it reveals Mir, a baby Onyx Dragon. Mir is now forever bound to you through the Spirit Pact.
Welcome to the story of Evan!
One of the most interesting aspects of Evan becomes clear when you reach level 10. At that point in the development of other MapleStory classes, the question becomes “What task do I need to complete to reach the next phase for my character?” That doesn’t apply to Evan. Evan doesn’t have job advancements, quests or tasks to complete before advancing to the next phase of your character build.
Instead, a brand new feature called the Growth system is introduced. Growth stages are achieved through leveling up. As you train, you and your dragon will grow stronger and when you reach a growth stage, you receive new skills. Some of these skills can be raised by using “Skill Points” (SP) in order to maximize their effectiveness. Skill Points can be earned via quests and you will gain three Skill Points every time you level up.
At every growth stage your Onyx Dragon companion evolves with you. Effectively this means your dragon will physically grow every time you reach the next growth stage. As you level up, the dragon will develop from a baby Onyx Dragon to a true adult Onyx Dragon form that has at last reached its full powers.
Unlike other classes, attack skills for Evan are directed through the dragon. When you use a skill, your dragon will execute it. Your strength is your dragon’s strength and vice versa. Support skills are skills you can use to buff you and your dragon or your party for a certain duration. Passive skills are skills that do not need to be performed. If you apply skill points to a passive skill, it will automatically give you the bonuses described.
